Sportyplanner Alternative: Compare Your Coaching Workflow
Compare Sportyplanner and Trainera by client experience, total cost and a practical trial. Check current pricing and migration requirements.

Choose the platform that supports your weekly coaching work
Trainera is an option to evaluate if you are comparing Sportyplanner with a platform that also serves independent trainees and gyms. Start with the work you need to complete: assign a plan, see what the client did, give feedback and collect payment. A longer feature list is useful only when it improves that routine.
This comparison is published by Trainera. It is based on the providers' published information and a trial checklist you can run yourself. We have not conducted an independent usability study or measured how much time a Sportyplanner customer saves after switching. The right choice depends on your clients, your delivery model and the functions you actually use.
What Sportyplanner already offers
Sportyplanner describes training and nutrition planning, client progress records, messaging, group coaching and a client app. Its app includes a workout calendar, exercise logging and a photo food diary. These are substantial coaching functions, so compare your workflow rather than assuming that a competing product lacks basic tools. See Sportyplanner's coaching overview.
Compare the relevant plans and the whole monthly cost
On 26 October 2026, Sportyplanner lists Pro at €29.90 per month, Growth at €39.90 and Scale at €59.90, excluding VAT. Pro includes unlimited clients, programs and groups. Growth and Scale add selling tools with different commission structures. Confirm the current details in Sportyplanner's price list.
Trainera has a Free trainer plan for up to three clients. Paid plans, branding and payment fees should be checked in Trainera's current pricing for your country and billing period. A free starting point does not mean every function or every payment is free.
Write down a cost for your current client count and another for the client count you reasonably expect next year. Include additional staff, branded app options, any paid automation package and payment processing. Compare the same billing period and tax treatment. Do not multiply a monthly price by twelve and call it an annual offer unless the provider actually sells that annual offer.
Use a simple worksheet: subscription plus required extras plus estimated payment fees. Keep payment volume separate from client count. A coach selling a few expensive packages can process more revenue than a coach with many low-priced memberships. A commission-based difference therefore depends on what you sell, not just how many names appear on your dashboard.
Run the same client journey in both products
- Invite a client. Use a consenting trial participant or a clearly labelled demonstration account. Record how many steps are needed to open the first program.
- Assign one realistic week. Include exercises you already use, a rest day and instructions that need more than a short title. Avoid judging the builder from an empty template.
- Log a session as the client. Record weights, repetitions and a note. Then open the coach view and find those records without help.
- Change the plan. Replace one movement and move a session. Check what the client sees and whether the explanation is easy to find.
- Complete a progress review. Submit an update, give feedback and agree the next action. This is the weekly loop the software must support.
Keep a short observation log for each step: completed independently, completed with help, or not available on the plan being evaluated. This makes the decision more useful than a row of check marks copied from marketing pages. Have the same person perform the client tasks in both products so differences in familiarity do not dominate your comparison.
Check Finnish throughout the journey
A Finnish landing page is only the beginning. Look at registration, the invitation email, training instructions, meal labels, notifications and the billing screen. Ask a Finnish-speaking client to explain what the next action means without translating the interface for them.
Separate interface translation from your own coaching content. A localized button does not automatically translate a program you wrote in another language. Also check how dates, decimal numbers and euro prices appear. If you coach clients in several countries, repeat the essential steps in the languages those clients actually use.
Make a list of terms that matter to your practice. For example, the label for a weekly progress review should not be confused with entering a gym. The most useful language review follows real tasks and catches those differences before you invite your whole roster.
Decide which Trainera functions belong in your comparison
Trainera's trainer platform combines client management, training and nutrition plans, progress reviews, messaging and payment tools. Clients use web, iOS or Android. The platform also has separate paths for people training alone and for gyms, which matters if your business includes more than individual online coaching.
Evaluate the features that solve a named problem. If you repeatedly chase weekly updates, inspect the relevant reminder and review process. If you sell courses, inspect course delivery and the client's access after purchase. If you need your own app-store listing, compare the plan that includes that product, rather than treating a logo inside a shared app as equivalent.
For AI-assisted work, keep the coach's review in the workflow. Inspect the generated plan, edit it and see how clearly the client receives it. A generated draft should be evaluated for suitability and editability; producing more text is not itself evidence of better coaching.
Plan migration before cancelling your current service
List the material you need to move: active client details, current programs, exercise videos you own, upcoming appointments and relevant progress history. Ask the receiving provider to confirm the supported formats and any records that cannot be imported. A promise to help with migration is not proof that every historical field transfers automatically.
Trainera describes its migration assistance on the switching page. Agree the actual scope for your account before scheduling the move. Test a small sample and compare it with the original records. Keep control of your source data while you check that the new records are complete enough for ongoing coaching.
Choose a changeover date with your clients. Tell them where their next plan and messages will appear, how to get help and when to stop using the previous app. Handle existing billing separately: moving a client profile does not automatically move an existing payment agreement. Confirm that no client will be charged twice or lose a paid service during the transition.
Make the decision after one complete coaching cycle
At the end of the trial, review the observation log with your clients and staff. Which tasks were completed without assistance? Which required another tool? Which features were available only after an upgrade? Add those answers to the cost worksheet.
Stay with Sportyplanner if it supports your delivery well and the proposed change solves no clear problem. Trial Trainera if its combined trainer, solo and gym workflows address a specific need. You can start with up to three clients and evaluate the actual process before making a larger commitment.
If your shortlist also includes Trainero, use the same task list in the Trainero comparison. Keeping the client journey and cost assumptions consistent makes differences easier to assess.
