FitBudd or Trainerize: which is the better buy?

Pick FitBudd if your brand comes first: its Super Pro plan gives you a fully white-labeled iOS and Android app at a published monthly price, Pro adds a branded website, and FitBudd says it takes no commission on client payments. Pick Trainerize if you want the lower subscription at 30 and 75 clients, a free plan to start, or a branded app for a one-time fee instead of a higher monthly plan. At 10 clients the two cost almost the same.

Figures below come from FitBudd's pricing page and Trainerize's pricing page, checked October 2026, in US dollars.

Included clients plus overage, or seat tiers?

FitBudd charges a base price that includes a set number of clients and then a fee per extra client; Trainerize sells fixed seat tiers and moves you up a tier when you outgrow one.

That difference shapes your bill more than any feature. With FitBudd, every client you add above the included number raises the bill by a known amount: $4 a month per client on Starter (above 2 clients) and $2 a month per client on Pro and Super Pro (above 20 clients). With Trainerize, your price stays flat inside a tier, then jumps at the next one, for example from Pro 30 at $79 to Pro 50 at $135.

FitBudd labels yearly billing "2 months free"; Trainerize says annual billing saves 10%. Both give you a 30-day free trial with no credit card. Trainerize also has Grow, more Pro tiers, Studio Max and an Enterprise quote, covered in our Trainerize pricing guide.

What you pay at 10, 30 and 75 clients

At 10 clients FitBudd Starter costs $47 a month and Trainerize Pro 15 costs $50; at 30 clients it is $99 against $79; at 75 clients $189 against $180.

ClientsFitBudd, monthlyFitBudd, yearly (per month)Trainerize, monthlyTrainerize, yearly (per month)
10$47 (Starter: $15 + 8 extra x $4)about $45.25$50 (Pro 15)$45
30$99 (Pro: $79 + 10 extra x $2)about $86.58$79 (Pro 30)$71
75$189 (Pro: $79 + 55 extra x $2)about $176.58$180 (Pro 75)$162

The yearly FitBudd figures assume the per-client overage is still charged monthly on a yearly plan, which is how FitBudd's page shows it ("/ client / month"). Confirm that at checkout. Our FitBudd pricing guide has the full plan breakdown.

Which is cheaper with your own branded app?

Over the first year, Trainerize's one-time branded app fee costs far less than FitBudd's Super Pro, but the two products are not the same thing, so check what you get before comparing prices.

Here is the first-year cost on monthly billing, using each vendor's published fees:

First year, monthly billingFitBudd Super ProTrainerize Pro + custom branded app
30 clients12 x $169 + $75 setup + $99 Apple + $25 Google = $2,22712 x $79 + $169 one-time + $99 Apple = $1,216
75 clients12 x $259 + $75 + $99 + $25 = $3,30712 x $180 + $169 + $99 = $2,428

What sits behind those numbers:

  • FitBudd Super Pro is described as a "fully branded white-labelled app on iOS & Android". Its FAQ says launching it needs "a D-U-N-S number, a non-refundable $75 setup fee, and developer account fees of $99 for Apple and $25 for Google".
  • Trainerize sells the Pro-level custom branded app for "$169 one-time fee" and adds that you need your own Apple Developer account, which Apple bills at $99 a year (Trainerize's custom branded app page). Trainerize describes its Enterprise-level app as the one with a separate app store listing, so ask how the Pro-level app appears in the stores before you pay.

If the store listing under your own name is the whole point, read our explainer on own app store listing vs branded shared app before you compare totals.

Payments, setup fees and add-ons

FitBudd says it charges no platform commission on client payments; Trainerize charges $10 a month for its Stripe payments add-on and lists no surcharge of its own on its Stripe page.

FitBudd states: "FitBudd charges zero platform commission on client payments. Coaches pay only Stripe or PayPal's standard fee (about 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction)." That line is from FitBudd's own blog rather than its pricing page (FitBudd on white-label app pricing, checked October 2026). On Trainerize, Stripe charges its fee per transaction, and Trainerize points you to Stripe for the rates.

Both tools sell extras on top of the plan, so list the ones you would really use:

  • FitBudd (Pro and Super Pro): Appointments $50/mo, Team $50/mo, Explore (on demand) $50/mo, Smart Flow $20/mo plus $1 per client above 20.
  • Trainerize (Grow and Pro): Advanced Nutrition Coaching $20/mo on Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15, or $45/mo on Pro 30 to Pro 200; Video Coaching $10/mo; Business $25/mo; Stripe Integrated Payments $10/mo. Studio and Enterprise include all of them.

Setup fees differ too. FitBudd Pro has none, Super Pro has a $75 one-time fee and Elite a $100 one-time fee. Trainerize lists no setup fee apart from the one-time branded app fee.

Features coaches compare most

Both cover the daily coaching basics; the gaps show up in nutrition depth, the exercise library and branding.

  • FitBudd's pricing page lists a client app for iOS and Android, a workout builder, a built-in nutrition library with a meals and macros tracker, check-ins with progress photos, chat, and wearable integration on Pro. Its AI workout builder page says the library holds "4,000+ exercises with demo videos" (FitBudd AI workout builder).
  • Trainerize's pricing page highlights its AI workout builder, programs built per client, client meal and macro tracking, your own custom exercise videos, two challenge types (leaderboard and threshold) and a public Trainerize.me profile. It does not publish a library size on its pricing or feature pages.

What I would test in each trial: build one four-week program from the library, send one check-in with photos, and look at how clients see their macros. Those three tasks fill most of a coach's week.

Which coach should choose which?

The right pick depends on whether you are paying for a brand, for scale, or for the lowest monthly bill.

Before you pay for a branded app

A branded app only pays off if clients actually move to it, so prepare the launch before you sign.

  1. Check you can get a D-U-N-S number and developer accounts in your business name.
  2. Prepare an app name, icon and short store description.
  3. Ask the vendor how long store review takes and who handles rejected builds.
  4. Plan one switch date and tell clients a week ahead.

A message you can send on launch day: "Hi [name], our coaching now has its own app. Search for [app name] in the App Store or Google Play, log in with the email you use with me, and your current program will be there. The old app stops updating on Friday."

Where Trainera fits

Trainera is an option if you want branding that grows with your plan and a flat price per plan, with no per-client overage.

On Trainera, Free and Starter use color presets, Pro lets you set your own brand colors, Business adds your own logo and a website on your own domain, and on Enterprise Trainera builds and publishes your own branded iOS and Android app. Trainer plans run from $0 for 3 clients (Free) through $19.99 a month for 10 (Starter), $49.99 for 30 (Pro) and $99 for 75 (Business), up to Enterprise with unlimited clients at a custom price. Those are US-dollar figures; prices differ by country on trainera.fit/pricing. Gyms get their own app on the White Label ($219) and Studio ($259) gym plans.

Two points in FitBudd's favor: FitBudd Super Pro puts a white-label app within reach at a published price, while Trainera's trainer app is on the custom-priced Enterprise plan. And when clients pay you through Trainera's Stripe or PayPal, a platform fee applies: 1% on Enterprise, 3% on Business, 5% on Pro and 8% on Free and Starter, with nothing taken on cash or bank transfer. FitBudd says it takes no commission at all. For more on flat pricing, see our comparison of platforms without per-client fees.

The short version for your decision

If your own app under your own brand is non-negotiable and you want a published price, FitBudd Super Pro is the clear path. If you want the lower monthly bill at 30 to 75 clients and can live with a one-time branded app fee, Trainerize costs less. Start both 30-day trials with the same three clients and compare the real totals, add-ons included.
