Trainerize vs Kahunas 2026: Prices, Fees and Who Fits

Trainerize or Kahunas: which is better in 2026?

On price, Kahunas comes out ahead at 10, 30 and 75 clients: $35 a month on Essentials (up to 25 clients), $69 on Growth (up to 50) and $99 on Ultimate (unlimited clients, with your own branded app), against $50, $79 and $180 on Trainerize's Pro tiers. Kahunas includes nutrition and takes no commission on payments, while Trainerize sells nutrition ($20 or $45) and Stripe payments ($10) as monthly add-ons. Trainerize has a free plan, a 30-day trial and published tiers up to 1,000 clients, which suits larger and studio businesses.

Checked October 2026 against the Trainerize pricing page and the pricing block on the Kahunas homepage. Trainerize states its prices in US dollars. Kahunas shows "$" without naming the currency.

How each tool is priced

The two models are quite different. Trainerize has many small tiers by client count. Kahunas has three plans with wide client bands, and the top plan has no client limit at all.

Trainerize plans

Annual billing saves 10% and is charged once a year. Enterprise, for more than 1,000 clients or 5+ locations, is quote-only. Add-ons on Grow and Pro: Advanced Nutrition Coaching $20 (Grow, Pro 5, Pro 15) or $45 (Pro 30 to Pro 200), Video Coaching $10, Business $25 and Stripe Integrated Payments $10. Kahunas plans

Kahunas does not print a discount percentage, but the yearly price on Essentials and Growth is nine times the monthly price, so you pay for nine months and get twelve. Upgrades can be made from the dashboard at any time, and no overage or setup fee is listed. The plans sit on the homepage; kahunas.io/pricing returned a 404 error when we checked. What each costs at 10, 30 and 75 clients

Base subscription on monthly billing, with the annual per-month figure in brackets:

Add Trainerize's nutrition and Stripe add-ons and those Trainerize figures become $80, $134 and $235 a month. Kahunas includes nutrition plans from Essentials and takes no commission on payments, so its figures do not move, though at 75 clients you should add Apple's $99 a year (about $8.25 a month) if you publish the Ultimate branded app.

The gap is widest at 75 clients. Trainerize Pro 75 at $180 is close to double Kahunas Ultimate at $99, and Ultimate already includes a branded app that Trainerize sells for $169 one-time.

Fees and extras

Payments

Kahunas connects Stripe and PayPal and says it does not charge any commission on your sales, and does not charge your clients directly. Stripe and PayPal still take their own processing fees. Trainerize needs the $10 a month Stripe Integrated Payments add-on on Grow and Pro; its Stripe payments page points to Stripe for the processing fee and lists no extra Trainerize percentage.

Branded app

Kahunas Ultimate includes your own branded iOS and Android apps with your own App Store listings, and Kahunas says it gets 99% of apps live within 30 days. You need your own Apple developer account, which Kahunas notes costs $99 a year. On Essentials and Growth, clients use the Kahunas-branded app.

Trainerize sells a custom branded app on Pro plans for a $169 one-time fee plus the same $99 a year Apple account, per its branded app page. Studio plans include a Studio-level branded app, and Enterprise includes an app with a separate store listing. Trials and guarantees

Trainerize offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card, then moves the account to the free plan. Add-ons are not part of the trial. Kahunas offers a 14-day free trial, and its founder's guarantee says you can try it for 3 months and get a same-day refund if you are not satisfied.

Monthly or yearly billing?

Both tools reward a yearly commitment, by different amounts. These savings are simple arithmetic on the published prices:

The Kahunas discount is bigger, about a quarter off. The catch with any yearly plan is that you pay up front for a client count you may not reach. In practice it is safer to run two or three months on monthly billing, see where your roster settles, and then switch.

Features, from each vendor's own pages

Two things stand out. Kahunas packs a lot into its entry plan, especially on nutrition and check-ins. Trainerize's case rests on its range of tiers, its free entry plans, its studio path and its AI Workout Builder.

Who each one suits

Trainerize suits

• Coaches starting from zero who want a free plan for their first client and a $10 plan for two.
• Businesses that expect hundreds of clients and want published Studio prices, with every add-on included.
• Coaches who want an AI workout builder and challenge features such as leaderboards.
• Coaches who want a full month to test without a card: the 30-day trial ends on the free plan rather than a charge.

Kahunas suits

• Online coaches with up to 25 clients who want nutrition, check-in forms and habit tracking in a $35 plan.
• Coaches who want automations and lead forms without paying per add-on (Growth at $69).
• Coaches who want their own branded app with their own store listing at a flat $99 a month and no client limit.
• Coaches who want help getting set up: Essentials includes 1 to 1 live onboarding. Kahunas says more than 14,000 coaches use it.

Three coaches, priced out

Online coach with 20 clients who writes meal plans

Trainerize: Pro 30 is the first tier that fits (Pro 15 stops at 15), so $79, plus $45 for Advanced Nutrition Coaching and $10 for Stripe payments: $134 a month. Kahunas: Essentials covers 25 clients with nutrition plans included and no commission on payments, $35 a month. This is the clearest gap in the comparison.

Coach with 45 clients who wants automated onboarding

Trainerize Pro 50 costs $135 a month before add-ons. Kahunas Growth covers 50 clients with automations and lead forms for $69. If you pass 50, Kahunas Ultimate at $99 has no client limit, while Trainerize Pro 75 is $180.

Fitness business with 400 clients and several coaches

Kahunas Ultimate has unlimited clients and an option to add team members, but the team-member price is not published. Trainerize Studio Plus is $275 a month for up to 500 clients with all add-ons included, and the price is on the page. For a business at this size, the published Trainerize price makes budgeting easier; ask Kahunas for the team-member cost before you compare.

Mistakes to avoid

• Comparing Trainerize's entry price with Kahunas's. Grow at $10 covers 2 clients. At 10 clients you are on Pro 15 at $50.
• Forgetting the Apple fee. Both branded app routes need your own Apple developer account at $99 a year.
• Assuming Kahunas extensions are free on every plan. Ultimate includes extensions; Growth can buy them, and the extension prices are not published.
• Reading the Kahunas price as US dollars without checking. The page shows "$" and does not name the currency, so confirm at checkout if you are outside the US.
• Forgetting in-person buyers on Trainerize. People who only book or buy from you sit in basic client seats: 15 on Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15, unlimited from Pro 30.
• Skipping the trial with real clients. Put two or three real clients through each tool for a week, including one check-in and one nutrition change.

What to test during the trial

Trainerize gives you 30 days and Kahunas 14, so plan the Kahunas trial before you start it.

1. Onboard one real client and time how long it takes from invite to first logged workout.
2. Send a check-in with the questions you actually ask each week, and look at how the answers come back to you.
3. Change a nutrition plan mid-week. On Kahunas, search the food database and scan a barcode; on Trainerize, note that the advanced nutrition tools are an add-on and are not in the trial.
4. Connect payments and run one test charge so you see the full fee chain.
5. Open the client app on an older phone. Your clients will not all have the latest model.

Switching between them

If you already run one of these and are thinking of moving, the plans are usually the easy part. Kahunas Growth includes bulk client upload, which helps when you arrive with a long list. Whichever direction you go, keep both accounts for one overlapping month, rebuild your most used templates first, and move payments last so no client is charged twice. Where Trainera fits

Trainera is a third option to price if you want one flat price per plan and a free tier that covers more than one client. In US dollars, as shown on trainera.fit/pricing for the US: Free $0 for 3 clients, Starter $19.99 for 10, Pro $49.99 for 30, Business $99 for 75, Enterprise on a custom quote. Prices differ by country: the UK, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Mexico and several euro countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy see local-currency prices.

• Training and nutrition plans, check-ins, questionnaires (on every plan, Free included), habits and chat, with 1,970+ exercises with video and 1,500+ recipes. Food search uses Open Food Facts and the USDA FoodData Central database.
• Payments by card, PayPal, bank transfer or cash. Coaching payments through Trainera's Stripe or PayPal carry a platform fee of 8% on Free and Starter, 5% on Pro, 3% on Business and 1% on Enterprise; cash you record yourself carries no fee. Kahunas's 0% commission is the better deal for coaches who collect most payments by card in the app.
• Wearables: Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android, Fitbit and Polar. The iPhone app comes with an Apple Watch app for logging sets.
• Automations from Starter (1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, 10 on Business), live streams from Pro, courses from Business, a trainer marketplace listing and an app in 27 languages.

Be clear on one point: on Trainera your own store app comes only with Enterprise. Business gives you your own logo and a website on your own domain. If a branded app at $99 a month is what you want, Kahunas Ultimate is the more direct route.
